Jan. 25

This morning, I got caught up with emails and the usual goings on with our close collaborators at the Ecology Office down in town.  Then I hiked back up to Wuyipeng and was greeted warmly by the field team. I gave them a taste of the box of chocolates that my mom just sent from the United States and they loved it. They rarely leave Wolong, so being able to eat something that has come from the other side of the world is an exciting thing. They liked it I think and talked about how I must be special for my parents to send me things from so far away. They said it must be because I’m the only girl in my family (I have three brothers). Come to think of it, it is kind of funny how I always find myself surrounded by three males…I’ve got my three field guys who kind of remind me of my three brothers.

Anyway, not a whole lot new up here.  I was careful to take a shower while down in town due to our water shortage situation up here. Things are good.
